Historian. Full tenured professor at the Faculty of “Artes Liberales” of the University of Warsaw. Co-founder and President of the Board of the “Artes Liberales Institute” Foundation since 1997.

His research has focused on the general history of modern times, including the history of India and Spain, European expansion, colonialism, and the history of civilization. He has also written about Poland, dealing especially with its place in Europe and the processes of transformation. He has lectured in India, USA, Spain, and France.

In the 1980s involved in the opposition movement. Between 1990 and 1994 Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Madrid.
