Classical Tradition and Authority in Social Dimension
SPRING SCHOOL PROGRAM

 

 

The students` project "Classical Tradition and Authority in Social Dimension" is the part of IGITI`s project "The Birth of Classics: self-consciousness of the humanities in Pre-Modern Epoch" (http://igiti.hse.ru/Projects/Birth).

We suppose that the month in Warsaw will help us to present the content and the methods of our collective scientific work to the students. Lectures, workshops and tutorial will let the students share our research experience and - we hope - to become equal participants of the IGITI`s project. Therefore we consider the auditorium activities first of all as methodological training: each lecturer will clarify the methodological base of his or her studies in developing his or her local theme within the common project. The variety of teachers` methods stimulates the broadening of young researchers` outlook - so we welcome a variety of themes, issues and people at our classes.

Regarding the schedule, we would like to concentrate the auditorium activities in the first and at the last decades of our sojourn in Warsaw. In our opinion, such distribution of activities will let us keep the work spirit during all our sojourn and prepare the students for the final conference.

- We could allow the first three or four days for the students to appreciate the Warsaw libraries funds and to plan their reading.

- The mini-courses and consultations of three lecturers (Prof. M. Andreev, Dr. E. Molodov, Prof. O. Voskobojnikov) take place in April, from 21 to 25th.

- After a ten-day break, we restart the meetings (lecturers: Prof. O. Dmitrieva and Dr. A. Golubkov, from 5th to 11th of May).

- We finish with two-day student conference (13th -14th  of May).

So the first decade will be the busiest period of our sojourn, whereas in the last decade the lectures play rather organizing role and provide the students with the possibility of communicating to tutors.

Of course, the students can (and must) apply for tutors` consultations at any time (but no less than twice a month).

According to our lecturers` wishes, we are including the most useful and important materials on their mini-courses in the program. We hope it will facilitate students` preparation to our common work.

Polish and international students are welcome to join our classes. Our students are especially interested in the education conception realized by Institute "Artes Liberales". The possibility of discussing problems of the liberal education at the round table with Polish colleagues could be a valuable experience for them.

We would be grateful if you could help us receive information about scientific activities in Universities of Warsaw during our sojourn.
