The «Artes Liberales» Institute Foundation was established in 1997 by academics linked to OBTA, now called Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies "Artes Librales". Its main goal is to promote and support educational projects addressed to students and young scholars in Poland and East-Central Europe, aimed at eliminating the barriers between various academic disciplines within the humanities and social sciences.

The «Artes Liberales» Institute Foundation could begin its activity thanks to a three-year grant provided by the Christian A. Johnson Endeavor Foundation.
